The overwhelming consensus when people ask questions about urine ketone strips is "throw them in the trash". But all of the diligent people who bother to read Keto in a Nutshell and the FAQ are told something rather different:
• Nutshell says that they are one of the "tools of the trade".
• FAQ says "Whether correct or not, many ketogenic dieters tend to live or die by the presence of ketones in their urine."; "The ideal situation would seem to be one where trace ketosis (as measured by Ketostix™) is maintained"; "No hard and fast rules can be given for the use of Ketostix™ except not to be obsessive about them." "It is easy to mentally shortcircuit by checking the Ketostix™ all the time."
I agree with the consensus: urine strips are useless for monitoring ketosis. But the FAQ entries about them suggest that they can deliver actionable data that needs to be interpreted rationally. If we draft some replacement text here, could we possibly get a revision to this text? Or is it the case that, from mods' perspective, this is a false consensus perpetuated by outspoken partisans?
