I have been living in the same apartment for three and a half years, and while I don't know my neighbors super well, we recognize each other and exchange greetings in the parking lot fairly regularly.
A few days ago, I said hi to a neighbor and he responded with, "Oh, are you the new neighbor?"
I looked a bit confused and gestured to my door. "No, we've been here for a while."
His eyes got all big, and he said, "Oh! You've lost a lot of weight!"
A bit awkward for him, but it's good to know that my gestalt impression on others is different now!
