There are numerous threads on this subreddit and across the internet of people talking about their slip-ups. Whether it was a blatant cheat, miscalculation, or a misunderstanding of the macros of a food they ate.
But what all of these threads have in common is this question: "Am I out of ketosis?"
It's safe to assume you are. But that's not the question you should be asking. There are only a couple of questions that you need to ask yourself and nobody else.
"What lead up to this moment?"
After a year of trial and error, I have identified the triggers that lead to a blatant cheat. Sometimes it starts with me having a diet coke in the morning that erects the cravings or me ending up at a social event where there is a lot of good food.
It's almost scary how I can talk myself into cheating so I find myself avoiding situations like that altogether. Hopefully you're stronger than me.
"How do I feel now?"
While you may not be in ketosis anymore, does it really matter in the long run? Hear me out. If you stick to it, being back in ketosis will be nothing more than an eventuality. Follow the process and you'll be right back in it.
What you should really be afraid of is how you feel mentally. Do you feel the urge to use this silp-up as an excuse to cheat again or flat out quit the diet and say that it's not for you?
What makes this diet so great is that it kills your cravings for food but in exchange the start up is absolute hell for some people. Bouncing back in this diet is really hard. I'm not going to lie to you. And if you have any tips, I would like you to share them because I'm no expert.
But if you do find yourself back in ketosis. Take a picture in your mind of how it feels and hold onto it. We all seem forget when there's a double chocolate peanut butter cookie dough milkshake in our face.
