Tuck in as this is going to be a long one folks. I have struggled with my weight for much of my life. From being a fat boy in high school to getting in shape in college and then regressing back to being fat (the return trip took many years and yet i still managed to get there). I have tried many different diets throughout my life and it always came back (the weight) as I would not maintain the lifestyle. I had been pre-diabetic for many years before pushing past into full blown type 2 diabetes at age 40 (how I managed to not have it prior to then is just a testament to good genetics I guess). Back in early October in 2016 my doctor recommended I try a once a day injectible called Victoza as it has helped folks lose weight due to a reduced appetite while on the drug. It worked. I was at 565 lbs when I started on Victoza and by Jan of 2017 I was down 40 lbs. Now I had not modified my eating habits, I was still eating crap, just less of it. It helped me feel better and not feeling ravenous all the time.
I started hearing about Keto from some friends in the /Plex discord chat and how it had helped them with weight loss as well, and they pointed me over to this sub to learn more ( we ended up making our own, here is a link if you are interested Keto chat. So I read a bunch of articles and many of your posts (which gave me hope and help me feel less alone) and I became very interested. I watched some movies and podcasts (love me some Joe Rogan). I talked with my doctor and he said he thought it would be an excellent idea and gave me the green light. So I decided to start on Jan 27th 2017 and have been doing lazy keto since. I weighed myself and have been keeping track of my weight daily along with my fasting blood sugar to see where it goes. I started off at 525 lbs. and with a fasting blood sugar of 160. Today I am happy to report that I have hit my first small goal of getting down to 500 lbs and my blood sugar was a bit higher today for some reason (117) but still doing much better.

I did have one bump when I had a non-keto friendly tortilla when i ate a breakfast burrito. I gained 6 lbs in water from that one misstep and I realized that every little thing matters. I have since found keto friendly shells that don't jack me up and still taste great.
Progress pics.
Starting (sorry i did not take a pic at 525) = 565 http://ift.tt/2lnHmT0
Current = 500 http://ift.tt/2lfcDJz
Thanks for listening and inspiring me. KCKO!
