As far as I can remember I have been plagued with stomach aches, bad bloating and flatulence. During the first week of eating keto, all these symptoms disappeared, leaving me with a flat tummy for the first time in forever. Turns out, that when you have IBS, your body is bad at absorbing certain sugars, namely FODMAPs. Ofcourse, sugars is one thing you don't get a lot of in a ketogenic diet. UNLESS you start eating avocados in your second week and see all the symptons return with a vengeance. At this point, it was quite easy to identify the cause, and after turning to google, I found that avocados are very rich in polyols (the p in fodmap) one of the IBS triggering sugars. Yet another reason for me to stay keto!
