This is going to be a long post.... you have been warned.
Here is the RANT.
First of all I was very new to the Keto lifestyle, and hadn't educated myself on ANYTHING regarding my own nutrition, what food I had previously been shoving down my throat, and how everything that I've ever been taught about nutrition, and what's "healthy" was wrong...After this rant, I said to myself, "If I'm really serious about this, I've got to first start with educating myself" I had heard on other threads, redditors talking about the documentary fathead. So, I started watching that.
Even though it was dorky in the beginning, and low budget, by the time I got done watching it, I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor. I was so furious with our government, the FDA, and USDA. EVERYTHING that I had been taught about nutrition had been WRONG!!! I remember being seven, eight, and nine years old and being drug to "diet workshop" meetings, and "weight watchers" meetings, and I remember all the things mom would make us all eat, and I remember how my whole family began to struggle with their weight. My whole family was over 200lbs. and a few were over 300lbs. and my sister is at least 400lbs, if not closer to 500lbs.
After watching fathead, I watched the documentary "carb loaded" which basically backed up EVERYTHING that fathead had talked about. So after this, I decided to buckle down, and go strict Keto, and talk about results!!!!
After posting the above linked rant, I have lost 11 lbs. I have gone from 251lbs down to 240lbs. I am walking 2.5 - 3 miles a day, and last Wednesday and Thursday I walked 5 miles each day.
I do all my meal prep on Sunday, I weigh everything, and nothing, with the exception of yogurt, jello, pork rinds, and artificial sweeteners, goes into my body that is processed.
That's not the best part!!! I am COMPLETELY off of all of my diabetic medications. I was on a very high dose of Lantus (76 units per day), I was on Glimiperide (2 mg twice per day) and Metformin (1000mg twice per day). My sugars are lower than they have been in well over four or five years, I feel amazing!!!
These are the physical improvements I have noticed since going strict Keto:
1. I wake up before the freakin' alarm goes off, like 5:30 in the morning!!!
2. I am NOT hungry
3. I have better mental focus
4. I have tons of energy now
5. My memory has improved greatly
6. DID I MENTION I FEEL AMAZING??????
I can't wait to see what the next year brings for me!!!!
